Randstad is looking for a Works Controller to join a large highways company who are a market leader in their division.
They need someone who is competent as a Works Controller or Works Scheduler and familiar with highways or civil engineering.
This is a contract role until the end of the year with the possibility to be extended; paying
£285 PAYE per day. Based in Halesworth Suffolk.
This role consists of: to review and accept reactive works orders; plan how the
work will be delivered safely and efficiently; create daily work schedules which are permitted in compliance with traffic management act; review completed work schedules at the end of the shift.

Review and accept reactive orders, ensuring consistency with the Highway Maintenance Operation Plan (HMOP) matrices, rejecting or amending any non-compliant requests with the relevant instigator whilst authorising compliant requests for efficient and cost-effective delivery
Assess and suggest appropriate traffic management to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the workforce and the general public;
Request additional information or documents from commissioners as and when required (including for non-compliant work requests);
Manage and coordinate operational information across Suffolk Highways, updating works commissioners when reactive works are subject to any significant delay;
Proactively seek opportunities for multiple works activities at locations where road closures, lane closures or extensive works areas will allow traffic management cost reductions and a more comprehensive highway asset maintenance approach, liaising with project managers and Infrastructure Operations managers and supervisors as necessary;
Coordinate and manage the effective deployment of staff to emergencies
Proactively manage any queries raised by Infrastructure Operations personnel, particularly to ensure that reactive maintenance responses are undertaken in a comprehensive preventative maintenance manner
To be suitable for this role you must have highways or civil engineering experience and be experienced with the duties above.
