Trainee reporter, Yorkshire Evening Post
We are looking for a trainee reporter for our daily newspaper and website, the Yorkshire Evening Post. This is an exciting time for the title which has undergone a series of big changes recently - from a rebranded masthead right through to having its own team of dedicated reporters - one of the biggest investments in journalism in Leeds charged with championing and campaigning on behalf of the city.
Do you have a passion for great content, quality journalism and the ability to spot a trending story? Do you want to be part of the collaborative team in Leeds, one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and the proud home of a Premier League football club?
You will have a hunger to learn, develop and embrace change in an exciting and fast-paced team. Already living in a world of social media, you will have a grasp of SEO and a natural understanding of what makes great content - and you will always want to be first with the news.
Who we are looking for:
Successful candidates will have a keen eye for a story and an understanding of what drives audiences, along with a natural understanding of SEO
Ability to follow analytics, identify trends and come up with original content ideas
Understand how to optimise content for search
Be comfortable in a fast-paced media environment but have the organisational skills to plan
Be flexible, working shift patterns and on weekends
Have a natural understanding of social media and how it can be best used to communicate with our readers
Be capable of producing fast and accurate copy
A team player
Experience of working in a newsroom, agency or on a digital platform
