Hooray is proud to be supporting a local registered charity to assist in the recruitment for a Support Worker specialising in the housing sector.
As a Support Worker you will play an integral role in improving people's lives by assessing their strengths and needs and supporting them to create and access a package of support that helps them to sustain their home or move on to better accommodation, you will also have an extensive repertoire of skills at your disposal that could have been learned and demonstrated in a similar or transferable setting or galvanised through personal experience that have enriched your knowledge and values. Alongside this, you will be managing busy caseloads, which will require you to bring strong organisational and time management skills. You will be working in people's homes or from drop in sites, seeing multiple people in a typical day and will be given the flexibility to be creative in how you manage your time.
There are many 'wins' in the role - helping people access their benefits or appealing where these have been withheld; supporting people to move into safer, more suitable accommodation or securing furniture/essentials items (cooker, fridge etc.) and negotiating with landlords to withdraw eviction notices. You will also have the foresight to expect challenging days - celebrating the 'wins' whilst possessing the resilience to bounce back from setbacks.
This role is full time. My client is offering £19 - £21K per annum + benefits. The working hours for this role will be Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm however, you must be willing to be flexible and work evenings and weekends as required to meet the needs of the clients. As this service covers Gloucester, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean, a willingness to travel across the areas is essential for this role.
A full driving license and your own transport is essential for this role.
