Technique Recruitment Solutions specialises in recruitment for manufacturing industries across East Anglia and has an exciting opportunity for a Proposals Manager to join their team.
The role is within the technical team of a UK based manufacturing company with global offices, involving the preparation of technical proposals through their lifecycle from receipt to conversion to sales orders. Working with a global customer base to interpret enquiries for electrical heating products (immersion, duct and process heating) and associated control panels, preparing tenders, technically clarifying, commercial negotiation and order acceptance. The equipment requires a multidisciplined engineer to interpret, understand and clarify industry specifications relating to process, heat transfer, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, materials, coating and hazardous area certifications. This requirement extends to the ability to read and interpret client and internal P&IDs, PEFSs and engineering drawings (2D and 3D). The ability to create engineering drawings is desirable.
Manage client's enquiry documents for immersion and process heating ranges and controls, prepare conceptual designs and costings and prepare formal tender responses to tight, customer specified deadlines.
Prepare technically accurate and competitive tenders, including data sheets and drawings, formulating accurate costings using internal pricing and externally sourced materials as needed.
Manage technical content of proposals including, but not limited to, process, heat transfer, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, materials, coating and hazardous area certifications.
Review and interpret client P&IDs, PEFSs and drawings.
Generate P&IDs, PEFSs and drawings as applicable to the equipment for client review and internal projects as needed.
Complete technical clarification of proposals via telephone, email, formal tender clarification documents and in person in clarification meetings as needed.
Management of third party quotations to ensure technical compliance and competitiveness.
To be the commercial point of contact for the life cycle of the bid to delivery undertaking negotiations for price and terms and conditions.
Prepare accurate contract handover files for Project Managers
Work with Project Managers post order to negotiate discounts on major sub-vendor bought out items and monitor the cost of sales to ensure maximum savings and variation orders are achieved.
Build strong relationships with client technical and procurement teams.
Give technical and sales presentations on our products and services to new and existing customers.
Perform sales activities as required for a dedicated region or sales account.
Take the lead on improving working methods and procedures within the sales and proposals team and develop systems to improve efficiencies in software based design, quoting and information management systems.
Identify projects and products within the market which may benefit R&D projects.
Regular travel will be required to close both technical and commercial bids in front of the client to secure business.
Skills and experience required:
A degree in Engineering or equivalent qualifications and/or experience
Management experience within a relevant industry
Excellent communication and presentation skills
