Process Technician - Engineering

Our Client is a leader in the field of raw materials processing and distribution, serving an international client base concerned with the manufacture of high specification technology products.

NOTE: relocation package available for the right candidate

Role Profile

Reporting to the site Engineering Manager, you will support production facilities across two sites by performing day-to-day plant upkeep, reactive and preventive maintenance, supporting new and existing pilot plant work as well as supporting product development and the implementation of new production lines


- Assist the Engineering Management in new product development and implementation including production methods, process flow, selection of machinery and tooling

- Liaise with research and development staff to ensure the company is at the forefront of ground-breaking research

- Assist in production trials, record commissioning activities, process details, recommend equipment and specifications, writing Standard Operating Procedures and Maintenance Procedures

- Support pilot plant activities as required

- Independently manage minor and process engineering projects

- Assist the Production Manager in the efficient and safe operation of the production and production supporting processes

- Production process troubleshooting

- Identify process improvements with a strong focus on safety and cost saving. Initiate and execute process improvement projects from start to finish

- Review and implement risk assessments

- Supervise contractors and other personnel on specific jobs and tasks.

- Report and action on Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality related faults, failures and non-conformances

- Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance

- Training and development of production operators

- Maintaining stock of components, fittings, spares, fasteners and liaise with the suppliers in order to obtain these

Person Profile:

* Mechanically minded, Self-starter

* This is a hands-on role, requiring a good level of fitness and the desire to spend time in the plant. You will need to be on your feet for most of the day, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights and access confined spaces

* The sites are chemical process plants and use a wide range of hazardous chemicals so a complete dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others is paramount

* This is a role for someone who wants to develop their skills and show what they can do

* Can-do, proactive attitude

* Manufacturing engineering, process engineering or production engineering background

* Excellent problem-solving skills

* Good fault -finding ability to investigate problems quickly and efficiently

* Good understanding of technical diagrams and drawings

* Continuous improvement mindset

* Ability to look longer term beyond the issues of the day, to spot trends and turn them into making long-term plans

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with contractors, plant colleagues and management team

* Ability to coach others

Desirable, but not essential:

* A formal Engineering or related qualification

* Knowledge of basic metal fabrication techniques

* Knowledge and experience of welding processes TiG & MiG

* Knowledge of workshop equipment

* Knowledge of fluid power

* IT proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

There is plenty of scope for advancement in this fast growing highly specified manufacturing environment and so they are seeking people with a good level of practical skills but also with the practical intellect to apply them to a higher level
