Our client is an established international name in their industry with over 50 years of experience in their field of manufacturing household brands and products for various manufactuirng industries including chemicals and food & beverage. We are presently seeking a Maintenance Team Leader for this client to lead all engineering activities at their growing Liverpool site, reporting into the Plant Manager.
Purpose of the Role
Responsibility for maintenance for the site, provide knowledge and practical experience of equipment, including liquid mixing, filling equipment and powder handling with a working knowledge of process control systems. Responsibility for maintenance engineering resource, stores and purchases, planned and preventative maintenance schedules for key equipment resources, organisation of engineering works orders and contribute knowledge and expertise in projects. Involvement in site engineering standards.
The role demands a proactive approach to raise the overall performance in line with business and departmental objectives. As a key member of the Engineering Team, you will play a critical role in coordinating and prioritising the daily work activities for both internal and external engineering resources, resulting in safe execution of the overall engineering work plan.
Additional accountabilities include:
Safety, Health, & Environmental
Ensure members of the engineering team work to the site and business SHE standards
Ensure a robust and clearly communicated safe system of work is applied for all activities
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the site safety systems
Good knowledge of statutory compliance obligations and Approved Codes of Practice: AtEx & DSEAR / PSSR / PUWER / LOLER
Experience in developing and implementing RA's within an Engineering Team
Experience in working with and administering Permit to Work (PTW) systems
Understanding of the likely failure modes and implement preventative maintenance planning for key site equipment.
Understanding of the business priorities to allow the optimum planning of maintenance activities, liaising with the site manufacturing team.
Identifying and assessing equipment and systems that are to be designated critical equipment.
Ensuring the extent and method of periodic inspections are defined (including any legal requirements) and are recorded, together with necessary actions, repairs and inspection interval.
Ensuring that schedules of inspection dates are kept and managed.
Ability to interrogate data in order to set action in place to improve OEE, MTBF, MTTR, Budget, etc
Experience and knowledge of Lean and Asset Care Excellence techniques - Root Cause Analysis,
Support the implementation of engineering standards relating to the design, maintenance, inspection and ongoing management of mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure legal compliance, minimise lifecycle costs and ensure business targets are achieved whilst maintaining safe engineering practices
Skills and Experience Required
Strong experience of managing manufacturing plant maintenance and engineering projects
Chemical or similar Continuous Process industry along with Food & Beverage / FMCG / Packaging industries preferred but not essential
Excellent people management skills, able to influence and improve engineering team through effective leadership and motivation skills
Experience of modern engineering improvement techniques
Experience of environmental compliance and control
High degree of integrity
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Decisive, pro-active and assertive
Internal customer driven
Ability to demonstrate working under initiative and think things through to solution
IT literate - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline preferred, or strong relevant experience in lieu with apprenticeship / HNC.
Appropriate Technical Qualification, apprentice trained
Lean Manufacturing / CI Training / expertise
IT literate - Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good analytical and numeric ability
