HR Absence Advisor: Permanent: London based: Paying up to £37,000 (DOE)

Morson are currently supporting our leading transport client in their search for an experienced HR Absence Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. The HR Absence Advisor will report into the Head of Operational HR and will support the local Driver Management team in ensuring that absence is being managed in line with the organisation's sickness and absence management processes.

The HR Absence Advisor will also work alongside the Driver Managers and HR Advisors to support advise and report on the management of sickness/absence for the Driver frontline teams, ensuring that all welfare calls are carried out and return to work interviews completed to a consistently high standard. The HR Absence Advisor will be required to analyse data, identify trends in sickness/absence and make suggestions to improve the sickness/absence process to reduce the level of sickness within the business. Further duties for the role include:

Ensuring welfare calls for Drivers are undertaken in accordance with company timescales and recorded in line with company procedures
Ensuring Return to work interviews are completed in a timely and meaningful manner and the system is updated accordingly
Coach and upskill Driver Managers on sickness/absence procedures
Work with Managers and HR advisors to track short- and long-term sickness cases
Analyse sickness data to look for trends and identify ways to improve absence rates
Work with the Admin Support team to ensure that the data captured is accurate and sick notes are dealt with appropriately
Identify and share good practice
Identify skills gaps and development needs of individuals/teams and ensure they are communicated confidentially and addressed
Identify and develop new reporting techniques/channels where required
Other HR Advisor duties as requiredThis is a pivotal role within the team as the absence of drivers affects the overall running of the lines and the public who rely on transport to get from one place to another. This position would suit a strong HR generalist with good employee relations knowledge, as such previous experience of working in a HR Advisor role is essential , ideally gained from a rail, construction, manufacturing or logistics environment, along with the following skills/attributes:

Proven experience of working with full range of employee lifecycle processes
Experience of using a HR Information System
Experience of working with Trade Unions (desirable)
Ideally, background in the industries
Experience of managing absence processes - e.g., welfare, capability
Experience of managing disciplinaries and grievances, including dismissal
Experience of change programmes e.g., TUPE, restructuring
Up-to-date knowledge and proven application of employment legislation
Willing to work flexibly and quickly
GSCE Maths and English at Grade C or above, or equivalent
Preferably CIPD qualified, or equivalent
Proven ability to manage own work whilst working as part of a team
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
Good communications skills (written, verbal and active listening)
Good interpersonal skills, particularly listening and encouraging the sharing of ideas and managing conflict
